My name is Thomas M. I am 46 years old, and have been a paraplegic for the last 25 of them. About 10 years ago, I developed severe cases of hyper tonicity and chronic intractable spasticity. This condition left me with multiple pressure ulcers, three of which I have never been able to heal until I came to Gate City Rehab in Nashua. Teams of surgeons, hospitals, medicines and therapies over the last eight years could not accomplish what my stay at Gate City Rehab has done in 12 weeks.
Staying at Gate City Rehab has allowed me the benefit of being able to stay off the wound vacs completely, while being attended to by an extremely competent and caring nursing staff. And I must give high marks to all other employees and staff. The LNAs were never far away and were always helpful. And they seemed to genuinely want to be here! Even the housekeeping staff was efficient and friendly.
Last but not least, the nutrition and physical therapy (PT) staff. I am a single guy, so my eating habits aren’t the greatest. I know that my diet was worked on carefully and was a huge contributing factor in my healing. And even though I’ve only been allowed limited time out of bed for the last few weeks, PT did a great job getting me into shape to go home. Plus, the “E-Stim” I received was another huge healing factor and Gate City Rehab is the only place around that even offers it.
